Boring, frustrating and a headache to read!

31st January 2010

If I could give this book a minus zero, I would! I had to buy it for my physical fitness trainer class. It OVERUSES abbreviations, because the author must have been too lazy to write out the actual words! Example:CHD,HSQ,HR,BP,AHA,ACSM,. I guess if you are in the medical field,(which I am) you'd automatically know a few of those abbreviations, but to the average layperson trying to learn something, its VERY frustrating! It never EXPLAINS the abbreviations and you have to waste time looking them up, IF you can find them as the crappy glossary does NOT have all the terms in it.
This entire book was HORRIBLY written, over worded, it took pages and pages to explain something that could have taken a few sentences, and it's STILL not a clear explanation!. It bored and frustrated me to the point of tears!

In fact, I'd like to meet the people in person who wrote it and kick them hard in the groin-! I read chapters of this awful book and learned NOTHING!

Good but not GREAT!

22nd November 2009

The book goes over a lot of information on personal training and the fitness world, including strength and flexibility tests as well as a few simple exercises. It discusses health issues that are commonly run into and the ACSM standards. I say it was good, but not great, because I've read other ACSM books that go into more detail over dealing with health issues that many personal trainers face on a regular bases. At the same time, this is the first book from the ACSM that shows exercises in picture form.

Very Informative

This book gives a lot of insight into the fitness world. It gives examples of many different exercises and workout programs.
